Credit Challenged
A credit score is a summary. Your file is the story.
Nobody's credit is a number in isolation. Something happened, at a point in time, for a reason — and what's happened since usually matters more than the score itself.
Why the score isn't the whole picture
An automated system sees a number and a set of flags. It cannot see that the damage came from a single stretch of unemployment, an illness, a separation, or a business that didn't survive — nor that everything since has been paid on time.
Many people never get past that first screen, because nobody ever explains what the number represents.
How I work it
I build the explanation into the submission rather than waiting to be asked. What happened, when, what changed, and what the file has looked like since.
Where the mainstream answer is still no, there are lenders whose whole purpose is files like this — used deliberately, as a step toward better terms later rather than a permanent home.
This is for you if
- Your score dropped after a specific, explainable event
- You've been declined and told only that it was 'credit'
- You've recovered but the history is still on file
- You've been told to wait a year or two and try again
Think this is your situation?
Send me the details and I'll tell you straight away where you stand — including if the answer is that it needs work first.
